Responsible for investigative support in both Knoxville and Greeneville offices.  Provide overall assistance in the process of defending indigent clients charged with federal crimes within the Eastern District of Tennessee.  Gather information by interviewing both defendants and law enforcement officials.  Provide oral and written documentation as they relate to these interviews.  After discovering fact, evaluate and analyze information as it relates to theories of defense.  Seize prior criminal history of defendants, and other potential witnesses that may participate in trial process.  Locate potential witnesses, and provide clear and concise testimony based on field investigations.  Review discovery material.  Photograph crime scene evidence and other materials as it relates to demonstrative efforts.

Case Responsibilities: Analyze discovery material by initially reviewing search warrants regarding issues of probably cause.  Further evaluate the search warrant by reviewing the affidavit of the search, regarding staleness theories, to ascertain the specific timing of the information that is contained within the document.  Act as liaison between the in-house attorney, the Assistant United States Attorney, case agent (DEA, FBI, ATF, or other law enforcement official).

Case Experience:  Drug Offences (Marijuana, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Illegal Distribution of Prescription Medication), Postal Crimes (Child Pornography, Illegally Mailed Matter such as destructive devices), Environmental Crimes (Hazardous Waste Violations), Carjackings, Bank Robberies, Firearm Possessions, Solicitation of Protected Wildlife, and Illegal Alien and/or Immigration
